On December 4, 2018, the NHL granted the 32nd NHL franchise to Seattle Hockey Partners. Two years later, we revealed the Seattle Kraken brand to the world. As the newest addition to the Pacific Division in the Western Conference, the Kraken continues to prepare for its first puck drop in the 2021-2022 NHL season. In addition to the redevelopment of Climate Pledge Arena, Seattle Kraken are consecutively building their front office headquarters and training facility with three NHL regulation rinks at the Kraken Ice Centre at Northgate. This development represents not only further investment in making Seattle the epicenter of the Pacific Northwest but establishing a skating presence within the city for the first time in more than 40 years.

Position Summary:

The Community Engagement & Youth Access Manager will be a key contributor to the Seattle Kraken Community and Social Impact Department’s goal of creating a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable youth hockey culture in our region. In particular, this role will play a lead role in developing and implementing One Roof Foundation’s youth hockey access impact pillar, which will include working in and with: 1) Title 1 schools in Seattle, Renton, and Highline; 2) equity centered youth focused nonprofits like the YMCA of King County; 3) community centers and youth focused organizations in Skyway, Northgate, and South Park; 4) and other equity focused partnerships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage partnerships (academic, athletic (including ball hockey), and afterschool) with Title 1 partner schools and school districts (SPS, Highline Schools, Renton).
  • Manage partnerships with equity focused youth organizations, including but not limited to Seattle Parks and Rec, King County Parks, YMCA, Boys and Girls Club.
  • Manage and implement programming for Kraken multisport courts in South Park and Skyway
  • Support Corp. Partnership activation focused on youth access programming
  • Support the Community Engagement & Social Impact Department and One Roof Foundation in advancing impact goals and objectives, including in game events and activations
  • Participate in Seattle pro teams DEI/Social Justice meetings and collaborations, including the King County Play Equity Coalition
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with youth or youth organizations, schools, or youth focused nonprofits.
  • Previous experience working in youth sports or youth serving organizations.
  • Previous experience in community outreach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail, accuracy in work product, and focus on service.
  • Must be adaptable and enjoy working in youth settings.
  • Confident working both independently and as a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
  • Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.

Preferred Experience & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in ball hockey preferred.
  • Previous experience with Positive Coaching Alliance.

Working Conditions:

  • Minimal Travel (< 10% travel): May be required to travel. Trips may require air travel and/or overnight stay away from home for one or more nights.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required
  • Frequent bending, lifting 15-20 pounds, sitting, exposure to multiple external elements, extensive walking through the building including inclines and stairs.
