A high level executive at Microsoft is looking for an experienced Social Media Manager with a passion for executive communications, thought leadership, and diversity within the enterprise tech community. Preference for candidates with some background in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) work. The successful Social Media Manager is a multi-talented copywriter, editor and brand strategist. You have a passion for engaging leaders and high-profile brands in meaningful conversations through various channels. You talk the talk, communicating to audiences using their own language, while effectively delivering key messaging and moments. You can step into someone else’s shoes, channel their energy and speak in their voice, with a particular talent for short-form storytelling whether through words or graphics. You are dedicated to elevating diversity within the technical community, sparking social conversation and encouraging engagement from both internal and external communities.

Working in partnership with the executive`s communications team, and with the goal of making them show up as an authentic and innovative leader, the Social Media Manager is responsible for daily copywriting and publishing, including cross-channel amplification and data analysis, planning an editorial calendar that proactively plans for what’s happening next, monitoring the executive`s social for reply and engagement opportunities as well as monitoring related social trends to ensure engagement in a timely way in appropriate conversations.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Articulately draft, edit and publish social copy and associated images, mainly on Twitter and LinkedIn.
  • Create an editorial culture calendar that aligns with team priorities, releases, and beats.
  • Audit and assess performance through analytics.
  • Monitor the executive`s Twitter and associated social chatter for timely response and engagement opportunities.
  • Understand and adhere to company social guidelines.
  • Achieve personal performance targets that contribute to Lions and Tigers` overall performance.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Two to five years of experience as a Copywriter or Social Media Manager in marketing, branding, advertising, or communications.
  • Experience managing or being on a writing team for a Twitter channel for a brand or executive client, experience writing for LinkedIn a plus.
  • Ability to discern and adjust writing to match a specific voice on social media.
  • Experience writing social content related to diversity and inclusion topics a plus.
  • Ability to do minor editing to images to align to difference social channels.
  • Global and cultural awareness; proven competency for working in diverse and inclusive teams.
  • Ability to work effectively remotely (and across time zones, when necessary).

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Must be comfortable sitting or standing in front of a computer, in an office environment or a conference room, for many hours. Must be capable of delivering excellent work product in a remote and/or home-based setting.
