Position Summary:

Provide data management, reporting and analytical support for the direct marketing channels (direct mail, telegiving, e-mail and other digital efforts). Manage data flows within and between the marketing department and its vendors or other departments. Coordinate with Information Technology Services (ITS) and Operations, Production, and Reporting (OPR) to ensure code and processes are in line with established standards. Expert knowledge of SQL for data manipulation and generation of lists and reports, and proficiency in Power BI (or similar) is required. Experience with direct marketing is preferred. Experience with SSRS is a plus.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Program, execute, and manage list-pull operations and queue development for solicitation and cultivation campaigns for all direct channels (direct mail, telegiving, e-mail, social media), with superior attention to detail.
  • Create, import, export, de-dupe, and transfer data files, interfacing with other departments and external vendors, as necessary.
  • Create and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
  • Inform testing strategies and perform analysis on the efficacy of direct marketing campaigns.
  • Use SQL and Excel to execute ad hoc queries, respond to Donor Center and fundraiser questions.
  • Contribute IT solutions to quality-control concerns.
  • Transform and present data ensuring data integrity and quality of data prior to releasing.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and complete documentation of data extraction and report specifications and standards.


  • Bachelor`s in data science, computer information systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, with two plus years of experience writing and modifying complex queries in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), including use of inner and outer joins, sub-queries, and stored procedures.
  • Strong understanding of CRM database structures as implemented in a relational database.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Power BI (or similar tool).
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including experience with Excel pivot tables and VLOOKUP formulas.
  • Experience developing, generating, and formatting custom datasets.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to nontechnical audiences.
  • Ability to balance multiple activities and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to work at a high level of accuracy.
  • Must have analytical skills to independently diagnose and correct problems.
  • Familiarity with direct marketing channels and concepts is preferred.
