POSITION DESCRIPTION

SUMMARY:

Common Ground is a non-profit community crisis center in southeastern Michigan, serving those struggling with crises such as mental illness, abuse, human trafficking, addiction, etc. For the past 50 years, we have been helping people move from crisis to hope. Comprised of about 15 unique programs, Common Ground`s services recently expanded to serving the entire state of Michigan through the new Michigan Integrated Crisis & Access Line (MiCAL). This crisis line is a brand new undertaking with a future of powerful impact for hundreds of thousands of people.

The Recruiting Intern will be an internship with Common Ground`s Human Resources team. This individual will report to the MiCAL Human Resources Generalist and assist in building a diverse, fully remote workforce of Crisis Specialists. The Recruiting Intern will be coached on candidate sourcing and screening processes and strategy while gaining hands-on exposure to full-cycle recruiting. The pay rate for this position will range between $14 - $16 based on relevant knowledge and experience. Mode of work is flexible depending on the Recruiting Intern`s location of residence hybrid or possibility fully remote. The Recruiting Intern will be expected to work a minimum of 24 hours per week, 8-hour shifts, from 9:00am - 5:00pm. Scheduling potentially flexible.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Learn and conduct early stages of the recruitment cycle` needs analysis, candidate sourcing, phone screening, and interview coordination
  • Assertive "hunter mentality" to find and contact qualified candidates via cold calls, emails, online messages, etc.
  • Heavy usage of internet research tools such as LinkedIn, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), and other databases
  • Exemplify sourcing strategies with a robust focus on diversity and employee retention
  • Creatively source and network with candidates
  • Build a pipeline of talented candidates that fit the profile of the MiCAL positions` core competencies
  • Effectively review resumes for appropriateness of minimum qualifications, skills, knowledge, and experience
  • Conduct detailed phone screen calls with qualified applicants and ensure detailed documentation
  • Provide clear, accurate, and inspiring information to candidates about Common Ground`s job opportunities
  • Ensure a quality candidate experience through exceptional communication and timely follow-up
  • Maintain records and accurate documentation of all necessary recruitment activity (i.e. interview notes)
  • Comply with attendance and punctuality policies as well as all Common Ground policies and procedures

RELATED JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Recommendation of revisions to job descriptions
  • Research and plan various recruiting components including but not limited to interview and selection procedures, screening calls, skills assessments, and interview scheduling
  • Research, assemble, and disseminate HR related materials and documentation as required
  • Communication with appropriate parties to obtain information for projects
  • Develop relationships with external candidate sources such as universities and relevant associations
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate`s degree or higher in Human Resources, Business, or related field (either achieved or in progress)
  • Previous work experience in a people-facing, administrative, and/or customer service role strongly preferred

Environmental Working Requirements:

If position is determined to be hybrid, work will sometimes be performed on-site in an office environment with exposure to computer screens and extended periods of sitting. Assignments may require work to be done on an individual basis or in teams with members at various staffing levels.

For remote work, the Recruiting Assistant is required to have a private, at-home office environment free from distractions and conducive to handling sensitive calls/texts/chats. The job requires exposure to computer screen(s). Assignments may require work to be done autonomously or in virtual teams with members at various staffing levels. Common Ground will provide essential equipment such as laptops. Home internet must be functional and high-speed. Common Ground will not cover the cost of home internet.

Other Requirements:
