Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

Position Summary: The Director of Marketing is responsible for product messaging, positioning, definition, execution of marketing plans, and leading all Product Management elements of the company’s marketing programs. This role will require both strategic and tactical execution required for launch and product line maintenance.

This flexible and agile strategic thinker will support the company’s objectives by helping to create demand for products in a customer-centric manner, by developing and overseeing go-to-market strategy and plans, market segmentation, targeting and positioning.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage products, services, solutions and applications through full product lifecycle management

  • Develop and implement marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, new product introductions and other marketing projects

  • Develop and manage marketing budgets

  • Develop sales forecasting and product branding plans

  • Manage and communicate with cross-divisional team members as the product owner and subject matter expert: Managed Care, IT, Compliance, Billing and other key functional areas.

  • Offer expert advice to develop innovative advertising, public relations, social media and events

  • Work with new business development team and sales teams on brand initiatives

  • Manage agency providers, consultants, freelancers and other suppliers, including contract negotiation and management

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Supervise a marketing team, including hiring, training, workloads, schedules and deadlines

  • May oversee the operation of a company’s website or email marketing program and provide analytics review

Education :

Required - Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing

Preferred – Master’s degree

Experience :

Minimum - 5 years relevant experience in marketing or product marketing, preferably in a medical reference laboratory environment

Skills :

  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with knowledge of financial models and business case analysis.

  • Proven experience in product positioning and messaging.

  • Influencing skills- ability to motivate individuals and demonstrate organizational influence

  • Excellent presentation skills, strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Highly motivated, results-driven team player. Able to operate standard office equipment, which includes menu-driven computer workstations, computer printers, office mailing machines, fax machines, and basic laboratory equipment.

Reporting Relationship : This position reports to the President.

Physical Requirements : Requires light to medium lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires manipulation of tools, objects, and equipment using the following physical motions: pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching above shoulder height, grasping with both hands, pinching with thumb and forefinger, twisting with hand and wrist, climbing under, lifting up, lifting down, and reaching under. Routinely requires coordination of two or more physical operations. Routinely requires visual discrimination of color, size, shape, and motility.

Environmental Demands: Works in temperature controlled environment with possible exposure to biological and chemical hazards. May be required to operate fire and safety equipment or follow other safety procedures in an emergency situation. May be required to work with time constraints and in crisis situations.
