Calling all storytellers! We’re looking for a B2B content strategy director to craft and execute content that shows how we’re empowering customers to change the world.
This leadership role is responsible for developing and directing GE Digital’s content marketing strategy, objectives, and execution across marketing channels. You will tap into your passion for storytelling and lead how we communicate to our customers across the customer journey. This role ensures content tells a cohesive story and that each piece of content produced – and the channel through which it is distributed – plays a distinct role in moving our various target audiences along the path from awareness to consideration to conversion.
As a content strategist who also delivers the goods, you seek out market themes, customer research, brand and messaging pillars and competitive gap analyses to create content that incites action. You have an overwhelming bias for action and rise to the challenge of breaking down silos and connecting teams in a global organization. You enjoy working collaboratively with other marketers, B2B sellers, and agency partners through the content creation process.

Job Description

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Establish overall content strategy that leverages content marketing/thought leadership as a differentiator
  • Lead the creation and production of inspiring content inclusive of articulation of our own brand story and messaging that builds preference for GE Digital and our software
  • Leverage market data to develop content themes/topics and execute a plan to develop the assets that support a point of view and educate customers, leading to critical behavioral metrics
  • Develop content frameworks that are scalable and flexible enough to support the needs of the campaigns, various channels, regions, and businesses
  • Create and maintain editorial calendars, content journey maps, style guides, taxonomies, and metadata frameworks
  • Build collaborative relationships with content providers across organization
  • Manage the creative development process with internal resources and external agencies from beginning to end (i.e. authoring creative briefs, managing the agency deliverables, working with internal partners and legal/compliance, performing QA, oversee production and deployment of content)
  • Ensure all content is on-brand, consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience for all channels of content including digital, social media, email, video, print and best practice guidance for in-person experiences
  • Work with the analytics and digital teams to develop and report out metrics for content performance measurement and improvement; Conduct regular audits to ensure content is fresh and relevant.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Span of control/influence covers the content development spectrum and agency management; duties include:

  • Contribute to brand value proposition and messaging
  • Act as the key choreographer in a collaborative team approach to ensure brand cohesion across content
  • Write, edit, and proof content
  • Serve as editor across the organization to ensure alignment of messaging across all customer touchpoints
  • Lead agency and 3rd party writer relationships
  • Make recommendations for: SEO, paid search, Other paid media; blogs, native content posting
  • Project budgeting and management for content budget


  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience as a respected leader in marketing, brand management and multichannel content creation (publishing, journalism, etc.)
  • Must possess thorough knowledge of marketing principles, and proven track record across brand/product management, integrated offline/online campaigns, creative production, and research/analytics including related experience in managing creative services functions (e.g. branding, content creation, campaign management, media, social media and marketing sciences).
  • B2B software experience in a marketing capacity is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with MS-Office software including presentation software (i.e. PowerPoint).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven editorial skills. Outstanding command of the English (or primary customer) language to develop targeted, engaging, and persuasive marketing communications.
  • Results driven, organized with outstanding project management skills; prioritize tasks and work assignments, balancing multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and quality; adjust to changes in priorities and situations; complete work under pressure; meet deadlines
  • Organize and express ideas clearly and understandably when speaking to individuals or groups; listen to others &respond appropriately; and prepare/deliver presentations
  • Evaluate, analyze, and summarize data and facts with insight and brevity; establish logical connections; form sound decisions based on analysis


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and/or Communications is preferred. Advance Degree, such as MBA in Marketing or Integration is a plus.
