JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State’s Office of Strategic Communications seeks to hire a Social Media Intern.
Penn State’s Office of Strategic Communications seeks an ambitious, self-motivated undergraduate student for a fall and spring semester internship on its social media team, which manages the University’s official accounts on Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other platforms. The internship will be $10 per hour, require 10-12 hours per week, and be performed remotely with opportunities to work on campus as needed.
Candidates must have an interest in using various forms of social media for communications purposes and public relations. In addition to contributing to branded social media efforts and assisting with public relations campaigns, the intern will have the opportunity to edit, suggest, curate, and, with guidance, create content for use across social platforms. Other duties include evaluating analytics and collaborating with other Penn State units.
Qualified students must possess excellent news judgment, knowledge of AP style, a strong work ethic, an interest in planning, and the highest level of discretion regarding proprietary and sensitive information. Candidates should also have basic photography and web-writing skills, the ability to self-manage, and be able to meet firm deadlines.
