Job Summary:

IRI is creating student and employee partnerships that facilitate growth and development of IRI’s future leadership. The intern will support the work of IRI’s Europe Division.
This position will start in January 2022 for no more than sixteen (16) weeks and may not be extended. This is a paid position, at $15.20 per hour.

Position Requirements:

  • Current student in or recent graduate of an undergraduate or graduate program in Political Science, International Affairs,
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in English
  • Demonstrated interest in European politics;
  • Experiencing conducting research related to international affairs or political science
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Excel;
  • Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills

Preferred Skills

  • European language proficiency;
  • Demonstrated academic or professional experience with the Western Balkans and/or Turkey.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop original pieces – such as blogs for IRI’s Democracy Speaks page – that highlight success stories from in-country programs or analyze issues pertaining to the region;
  • Prepare programmatic content for external audiences by copyediting and formatting documents;
  • Assist in the development of programmatic reports and deliverables;
  • Manage internal databases and draft updates on political events within the region;
  • Attend and draft readouts on virtual events on countries and/or issues of focus.

Learning Outcomes:

Qualifications

Education

Required
Some college or better in Political Science or related field.

Experience

Required
Less than 1 year: * Excellent verbal and written skills in English * Demonstrated interest in European politics; * Experiencing conducting research related to international affairs or political science * Familiarity with Microsoft Office, including Excel; * Detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills
