Acts in an assistant role for Parish Office and facilitates Social Media communications. Duties are variable based on the needs of the office on any given day. Performance of duties can and will change daily. The following are possible tasks that will be performed but are not limited to this list.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Distributes information on and explains various activities in the parish to office visitors.
  • Prepares Bulletin and other parish documents for publishing.
  • Completes Sacramental Registries.
  • Fills in at reception desk as requested by supervisor.
  • Complete various office tasks including mailings, phone calls, photocopying, filing, etc. as assigned. Responds daily to incoming parish emails and phone calls and forwards the information as needed.
  • Organizes, records and distributes data for incoming Funerals.
  • Will be assigned tasks based on various office projects that may be seasonal or occasional.
  • Plans and develops social media and communications of information designed to keep the public informed of Holy Family activities.
  • Duties will include the development and preparation of photographs, scripts, flyers, bulletin announcements, etc. for various social media platforms publicizing parish activities or services.
  • Promotes positive image and goodwill through publicity efforts, such as exhibits, bulletin announcements, and social media platforms.
  • Generates internal and external publications, including gathering data, writing articles, selecting graphics, designing the format of publication, and determining distribution methods for parish departments.
  • Develop and execute strategy and goals for timely project completion. Develop a proactive process for determining upcoming events in advance of necessary due dates and deadlines.
  • Identifies and utilizes community resources to add new and fresh ideas for all publications and communications.
  • Determine accurateness of additional contributors and resources, for social media and publications, in conjunction with department managers.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • May include occasional duties outside of normal work schedule.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Education - Mid-level computer knowledge should include Microsoft Office Suite, some database knowledge, and an understanding of and ability to work in various media platforms.
  • Customer Service - Manages difficult or emotional parishioners’ situations; Responds promptly to parishioners as needed. Must possess good telephone skills and be able to deal with the public in sometimes uncomfortable situations on the telephone and in person. Be able to interact with employees in a polite and professional manner.
  • Interpersonal Skills - Maintains confidentiality; Listens to others without interrupting; Keeps emotions under control.
  • Written Communication - Writes clearly and informatively. Able to read and interpret written information. Capable of properly editing submitted documents to ensure correct grammar and communication of information.
  • Planning/Organizing - Prioritizes and plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Plans for additional resources.
  • Quality - Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Dependability - Follows instructions, responds to management direction; Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; Completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan.
  • Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
  • Church employees must conduct themselves in a manner that is consistent with and supportive of the mission and purpose of the Church.
  • Their public behavior must not violate the faith, morals or laws of the Church or the policies of the diocese.
