Job Overview
The Corporate Director of Social Media serves as the day-to-day support and social media expert for Sage Hotel Management’s full portfolio of hotels. Oversees and coaches hotel social media champions and social media agencies on channels including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and others as the need arises. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and content creator who can adapt to different brand voices and demonstrates enthusiasm and passion for all facets of marketing. Works with hotels to create branded and unique identities with forward-looking positioning, supported with online and offline content and initiatives that develop the hotel’s identity.
Responsibilities
Act as a central hub overseeing and supporting social media planning and activities of all hotel properties, ensuring brand integrity (voice, tone, personality, etc.), asset quality and effectiveness of content strategy
Work with all hotel properties and hired Social Media agencies (where applicable) to develop and execute social media strategies that drive awareness, positively portray property and support business objectives
Train and develop property level associates who execute social media to educate them in all levels of social media management and execution on behalf of a business
Counsels all property teams on social media best practices and KPIs
Monitor all property social media efforts to ensure quality and adherence with best practices
Creation and upkeep of relevant SOPs and training materials
Manage crisis communications efforts for all properties as needed in the event of emergency or other crisis issue; work with corporate PR support as needed
Provides tools and resources to properties to streamline their social media management such as Sprout Social, content calendar templates, etc.
Work with properties on audits of their social media content and profile information on a regular basis
Work with properties as needed to refine social media tone of voice, content priorities direction to ensure alignment with brand identity, messaging, etc.
Ensure that all social media sweepstakes and promotions are legally compliant
Provide guidance and training on paid promotions or organic posts/owned content on social media
Administration of associate access to all social media accounts and platforms
Maintenance of database of all social media account passwords and access information
Monitor for duplicate accounts and pages for Sage properties and work to have those removed as necessary
Administration of all third-party social media platforms including Sprout Social (in collaboration with SRC)
Administration of Facebook ad accounts for all properties to support their boosted post and fan acquisition strategies
Maintain brand presence and integrity across all online review properties (e.g., Yelp, Google, TripAdvisor, etc.) and listing sites
Troubleshooting of any connection issues or other challenges with social media platforms on behalf of property teams
Oversee all reporting of social media efforts; use reporting to drive improved content, social media initiatives and decisions
Ensure consistency of storytelling and brand messaging across all social channels, as well as consistency of tagging and tracking across all organic social content and outbound links
Recommend changes and new reporting based in changes in technology and other areas of change to ensure reports are always relevant and delivering useful insights
For properties with outsourced social media management:
Attend regular check in calls for properties with outsourced social media agencies
Manage all agency relationships from a corporate level to ensure alignment with Sage’s goals and expectations
Direct RFP process from start to finish for properties hiring/changing social media vendors; review and approve of all agency agreements
Work with VP of Marketing to benchmark, measure, track and analyze the performance of property social channels, content and campaigns/digital marketing initiatives. Use this reporting to drive improved content, social media initiatives and decisions. Ensure insights and learnings lead to measurable actions.
Stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices in social media, online marketing and measurement. Communicate trends to hotel teams and optimize strategy to incorporate those trends.
Work with marketing team to advise and collaborate on influencer strategies
Qualifications
Education/Formal Training
A four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience.
Experience
5+ years of experience in a marketing position. Hospitality experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Excellent comprehension and literacy required to read letters, help prepare contracts and proposals
Ability to negotiate effectively
Excellent attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
Professional appearance and manner
Computer literacy, specifically MS Word for Windows
