Brandeis University seeks a creative and collaborative strategic marketing manager who will lead research and metrics analysis to increase the effectiveness of the university’s marketing efforts. The person in this role will advise the Comms team about what kinds of content resonates with our target audiences, how to deliver content most effectively, and assess our communications and marketing campaigns for continual improvement.

As Brandeis prepares for major fundraising and enrollment marketing campaigns amid enormous change within higher education, this position offers a significant opportunity to help shape our approach to both short-term needs as well as long-term objectives. The strategic marketing manager will help the university meet the challenges presented by a more competitive market for undergraduate and graduate students, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and other changes to the higher ed landscape that may emerge.

The strategic marketing manager will join a team of colleagues in the Office of Communications, Marketing, and External Relations who plan, create, and share content across a variety of digital and print platforms, including the university website, social media, Brandeis Magazine, and other publications and collateral.

Major Areas of Responsibility

The strategic marketing manager will guide the development and implementation of marketing plans that engage our audiences around Brandeis’ unique strengths and value proposition. The manager will help us communicate our value meaningfully, enhance our visibility, and amplify the university’s brand and prestige.

The strategic marketing manager will reinforce a research and analytics culture in the Office of Communications, Marketing, and External Relations. The person in this role will help the Comms team better understand our audiences and improve our communications. The manager will recommend, develop, and manage intelligence platforms and tools that allow us to easily gather, share, and act on key insights from a variety of sources, ranging from Google Analytics, to digital advertising campaigns, CRM systems, and email marketing platforms, so that we can create meaningful data sets to assess our engagement efforts. The strategic marketing manager will analyze projects and campaigns quantitatively and qualitatively, report on performance, and provide strategic recommendations to improve future communications.

The strategic marketing manager will collaborate with staff in the Office of Communications, Marketing, and External Relations, as well as colleagues across the university, to provide expertise on key communications in areas such as enrollment and development to optimize conversion throughout the marketing funnel. The strategic marketing manager will develop experiments that test and explore new engagement approaches that consider and anticipate both current and emerging market trends.

The strategic marketing manager will advise on advertising campaigns, including making recommendations on creative execution, media buys, and associated budget. They will collaborate with vendor and agency partners on marketing plan development and the implementation of digital marketing tactics.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor`s degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably managing marketing analytics efforts in a complex organization. Strong analytical experience using a variety of digital marketing platforms and tools, including Google Analytics, Google Ads and other paid marketing tactics, Google Tag Manager, SEO, Slate and other CRM systems, with the capability to master new software applications and technologies.
  • Experience in devising campaigns targeted and personalized to specific audiences.
  • Excellent track record of leading collaborative efforts with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong project development and management skills.
  • Partnership mindset and a proven creative approach to communications.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Higher education enrollment marketing experience, while not necessary, is highly desired.
