BuzzFeed is looking for a talented and experienced Director of Brand Marketing and Monetization Strategy to join the Tasty & Lifestyle team who will bridge the business-side and the content-side of marketing to yield remarkable work for BuzzFeed Inc. Lifestyle brands and client partners. This function unleashes the power of our audience insights and brand voice to ensure we`re operating to BuzzFeed Inc.`s unique strengths in the marketplace. This position reports to the Head of Monetization & Product Strategy, Tasty & Lifestyle.

You will be a thought leader for Tasty and BuzzFeed Inc. food partnerships spanning all of the incredible brands under the BuzzFeed Inc. umbrella, including Tasty, First We Feast, HuffPost Food, and About To Eat. You will help BuzzFeed unlock the power of its unparalleled audience understanding to develop an original approach to strategic planning for brands and marketing for Tasty. You will craft compelling consumer narratives, manage strategic growth initiatives, help position our products, support key partnership RFPs and drive the business forward with big ideas and innovation.

You Will

  • Tasty GTM
    • Conceptualize and launch go-to-market initiatives that drive awareness, understanding, and excitement of Tasty`s audience and product offerings internally and externally.
    • Oversee and collaborate on consumer journeys that help provide integrated content and media solutions along with a clear through-line that rationalizes how and why our solutions work.
    • In partnership with B2B Marketing, oversee branded innovation for Tasty that highlights the brand`s unique strengths for strategic Tasty tentpoles (ie. Thanksgiving, Holidays) as well as BuzzFeed Inc. tentpoles (Pride, heritage months, etc.).
    • In partnership with Product Marketing, develop the roadmap for Tasty product innovation and integration into our go-to-market initiatives and large client partnerships including built if sold opportunities.
  • Tasty Brand Strategy
    • Lead strategy for Tasty`s highest profile client partnerships & largest RFPs, ensuring we are bringing the best of BuzzFeed inc.`s solutions to these partnerships to increase win rate and renewals with these clients.
    • Utilize BuzzFeed`s rich data to become the unique voice of the audience in creative development, distilling BuzzFeed`s vast audience knowledge into clear actionable consumer insights for our clients` brands.
    • Partner with Tasty social teams - both organic and paid - to ensure we stay up to date on the latest platform trends and are offering informed distribution recommendations for our products and partners.
  • Consumer Marketing
    • Work closely with Content and Research teams to develop brand narratives and Thought Leadership that defines our unique value prop in the marketplace.
    • Consumer-facing experiences / consumer marketing
  • New Revenue Opportunities (Innovation)
    • Define and launch BuzzFeed Inc.`s renewed food narrative that encapsulates all of our incredible brands, including: Tasty, First We Feast, HuffPost Food, and About To Eat. This will need particular finesse in being able to describe the strengths of each brand individually as well as the benefits of strategically leveraging multiple at once.
      • Build out GTM narrative, new positioning, and clear marketing activations that strengthen Tasty and BuzzFeed Inc.`s offerings
      • In partnership with Product Marketing, develop new products that leverage the strengths of each brand, the audiences they serve, and the platforms that work best.
    • Expanding beyond content and media, build a scalable approach for Tasty and other Lifestyle brands into new and exciting partnership opportunities: experiential, commerce, shoppable recipes, studio, licensing, business development partnerships and more.

You Have

  • 8+ years of experience and incredible proven impact working in technology, advertising, digital media, or related fields
  • Expertise in various dimensions of strategic planning: both brand planning (brand foundations and consumer insight) with specific expertise in communications planning (integrated connections planning that defines the role and connection of each element)
  • Understanding of what makes brands grow, and how the new media landscape unlocks unique digital advantages for BuzzFeed
  • Modern pop culture anthropologist with native understanding of internet culture. Strong point of view on what great digital content looks like.
  • Impeccable written and verbal communications skills with demonstrated ability to simplify the complex and write persuasive perspectives
  • Comfortable using and analyzing data from sources as diverse as revenue reports, Google Analytics, Facebook`s audience tools with the ability to make informed insights and recommendations.
  • Ability to think analytically, critically and logically to help teams develop simple, integrated and elegant approaches to complex brand issues.
  • Experience presenting to clients and managing ongoing partnerships
  • Highly collaborative, inclusive and organized
  • Passionate about food and BuzzFeed`s content and products
