Position Summary:

The Senior Digital Marketing Analyst reports to the Consumer Engagement Internet Marketing Manager in Marketing & Communications with technical guidance from the IT Business Intelligence Manager, Technology Innovation Center. Through deep collaboration and partnership with the Data Trust, Planning and Intelligence and Information technology (IT), this role will be responsible for meeting Marketing and Communications objectives while dual reporting into the JHM Technology Innovation Center for foundational understanding of our data and business intelligence eco systems and data trust infrastructure, standards and policies.

This role is responsible for owning the overall analytics and data strategy to deliver information, insight, and recommendations to optimize our goals around growth, retention, trust and engagement. The Senior Analyst is responsible for the creation and management of BI dashboards that tell a story around the achievement of objectives and areas of insight and opportunities. This role will collaborate deeply with leadership from IT and Planning and Intelligence to implement and leverage data connectors for visibility of critical data points. This role supports marketing data and analytics for The Johns Hopkins Health System and the School of Medicine.

This highly collaborative position requires a strong technical, analytical and strategic skill set balanced with a strong understanding of data management, multi-channel campaign execution, business acumen and an ability to think enterprise wide. In support of traditional and digital efforts, including SEO, SEM, social media, programmatic display, email marketing, user experience, survey and feedback tools, CRM/PRM/Claims database insights and web/customer experience analytics, the role is responsible for the evolution of a data culture through leadership, education, metric definition and KPI frameworks to enable analysis, understanding, decision-making and storytelling.


Requires a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college. Degree in Applied Analytics, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Healthcare Analytics, Statistics/Data Science, Emerging Technologies or Digital Marketing is preferred. Equivalent experience and training in data analytics, statistical analysis beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted on a 2:1 basis.

Required Work Experience:

  • 5+ years of related professional experience in marketing, analytics/data management roles
  • 2+ years of experience creating and handling large data sets and relational databases
  • 2+ year of experience integrating/reporting on data from an electronic health record or health care claims
  • Experience conducting health care related research and analytics
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Agile team experience preferred

Required Licensure Certification, etc.

  • EDW internal certification required within 6 months.
  • Google Analytics Certification preferred
  • Google Tag Manager Fundamentals Certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of online marketing, SEO, SEM, SMS, display advertising, social media, user journeys, segmentation and personas, user experience, survey and feedback tools, CRM/PRM, website reporting tools and customer experience/web analytics
  • Knowledge of SQL query and relational database models written in SQL and base level knowledge of ELT and ETL to map and bring together data from multiple data sources
  • In depth working knowledge of the various technologies, e.g. Google AdWords, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, retargeting, social marketing (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.), Google Tag Manager, Conductor, Foresee, Cision, Vision Critical, Experian Mosaics, Yext, Healthgrades, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Microsoft Azure etc.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, data structuring techniques such as modeling of multi-fact and dimensional modeling and how to access this data through business intelligence tools
  • Understanding of how to gather requirements and use cases from end users for visualization of data
  • Understanding of how to perform data validation tests to ensure quality
  • Proficient with process documentation, improvement and change management
  • Advanced critical and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively communicate technical issues and resolve problems
  • Ability to work with leadership to communicate strategies to meet our data and reporting goals
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports
