USC Athletics is looking to hire a Director of Marketing to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for managing and coordinating marketing and promotional efforts for USC Athletics sports, with a concentration on beach volleyball, women’s volleyball, men’s volleyball, and other Olympic sports, with secondary responsibilities for Men’s Basketball on-court promotions and activations for home games.

Additional requirements include overseeing all marketing and membership goals and execution of the Trojan Fever Rewards program for USC Students, creating and executing student marketing efforts, specifically at Men’s Basketball, and serving as the lead liaison for campus spirit groups and programs.

Reporting directly to the Associate Athletic Director for Marketing the Director of Marketing will work in collaboration with the department’s external team, sports programs, and other units within the Athletics department. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated collegiate sports marketing experience and an ability to design and implement marketing plans for sports and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education is preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletes is preferred.

Roles and responsibilities to include:

  • The position manages and coordinates marketing and promotional efforts for USC Athletics sports, with a concentration on beach volleyball, women’s volleyball, and men’s volleyball and aquatic sports, with secondary responsibilities for Men’s Basketball on-court promotions and activations for home games.
  • Oversees, coordinates, and manages all marketing, fan experience, digital and traditional advertising, and promotional efforts for volleyball teams
  • Overall marketing and advertising of USC Athletics.
  • Season ticket campaigns as well as the coordination/implementation of promotions and events surrounding revenue sports.
  • Developing and executing fan engagement efforts with an emphasis on growing the fan base
  • Promotional initiatives that educate, inspire, and engage external audiences
  • Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold the principles of the USC Code of Ethics.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.
    • Serves as an integral part of Football & Men’s Basketball planning
    • Lead gameday activations with a team of interns
    • Supports Game Day producer on sponsored content ideation and execution
    • Oversee and manage all marketing and membership goals and execution of Trojan Fever Rewards program for USC Students.
    • Create and execute all student marketing efforts, specifically in Men’s Basketball.
    • Lead liaison for campus spirit groups and program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a collegiate athletics marketing or comparable environment
  • Experience activating campus student initiatives and loyalty programs
  • Demonstrated sports marketing experience; Experience with the sports of basketball, volleyball, and/or other Olympic sports ideal
  • Ability to design and implement marketing plans for sports and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency in basic office support software (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Graphic design experience with, Photoshop, InDesign, and traditional graphic design software
  • Knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
  • Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
