Job Purpose Summary

The Director of Brand Marketing and Activations will play a lead role in Rubio’s brand positioning and implementation, beginning with helping to rollout the brand’s new positioning and ensuring all aspects of our internal and external communications are aligned. Reporting to the CMO, you will own the creation and execution of the integrated marketing content calendar across key customer touchpoints (website, app, email, social). You will direct all PR/earned media efforts, implement brand partnerships, influencer activations, and events, and support local store sales-driving initiatives. This role will manage agency relationships and coordinate with key team members both within marketing and across the organization to drive guest engagement and sales.

Essential Job Duties

  • Serve as brand steward and ensure consistency of brand messaging and activation across all channels.
  • Develop and drive the integrated marketing content calendar and execute across customer touchpoints, including website, app, email, social media, and PR.
  • Engage and direct agency resources to develop and deploy breakthrough and insights-driven brand content and activations to drive awareness, engagement, and sales.
  • Oversee Rubio’s public relations, influencer campaigns and brand ambassador program to drive creative content and expand reach.
  • Develop all branded content for website, and work with digital team to improve the online ordering experience.
  • Regularly track and report on key metrics, and identify key learnings to improve results.
  • Partner with the field to establish sales & marketing plans to support local store revenue and catering opportunities.
  • Review and provide recommendations for local events, advertising and sponsorship/partnership opportunities.
  • Oversee Fundraiser Program.
  • Oversee New Store Opening (NSO) Marketing planning and execution of opening tactics.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree in business, marketing, communications; MBA Preferred
  • 7-10 years of consumer marketing experience including significant experience with QSR, Fast Casual or other relevant hospitality category across multiple retail locations.
  • Demonstrated success with creating brand identity, leading marketing communications efforts including email, social media and influencers, team/people development and managing external agencies.
  • Experience in local store marketing and new store openings.
  • Excel in the core areas central to success in the role: leadership (think big, develop a vision, gain support from various constituents, and make things happen), strategic thinking, analytics (quantitative and qualitative), interpersonal and communication skills, creative problem-solving, and results-orientation.
  • Must have a positive, can-do attitude and take initiative.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to the CMO.

Major Business/Professional Contacts

Ability to communicate clear and concise directions to vendors, peers and restaurant personnel to achieve desired outcome. Interacts with all other Restaurant Support Center departments. Works independently on several projects, requiring self-discipline and motivation.

Working and Environmental Conditions

Based in Carlsbad, CA corporate office. Currently, a hybrid work model with 2 days in the office and the remaining remote is expected. This could change driven by business needs. Time split amongst a variety of jobs and tasks. Requires regional travel approximately 5- 10% of the time.

Sitting at a computer and regional travel.
